Everyone has heard legends of the origin and the name of the Black Sea. Some of them claim it was named like that because of the many seamen who found their death in its stormy waves and crashed their boats in its rocky coasts. Few people know, though, that along with these legends there exists another one, which is even more rarely heard and told.
It tells of a buried treasure of medieval pirates, who landed their battle ship and distributed the loot in the foot of the high cliffs near the city of Varna. For years on end the pirates were untouchable and plundered the seas far and wide. The secret of their evasiveness could be found deep in the holds of their ship and hidden in the miraculous power of a mystical golden candlestick, which protected everyone close to it against sickness and troubles...
Yet once when they landed their ship at the usual place, one of the pirates stole a chest full of jewellery, left the ship in the dark and buried it some two thousand feet from the coast, and marked the place with a cross. As chance would have it, the golden candlestick was hidden in it.
When the ship turned out to be far away from the miraculous protection of the candlestick, it became the victim of strong winds, which shattered its deck in the sharp cliffs on the coast.
Years passed and more and more people got to understand about the miraculous influence of this place. A group of monks, who came to the wilderness of the locality, even thought that the cross mark was a sign of God and decided to build an original monastery, in which other people could also sense the magical power of the item.
It is exactly on top of the foundations of the ancient monastery that the “Manastirski rid” hotel complex is built, where even today the guests feel possessed by a light mystical power, whose description is beyond any senses or words.
Here time has stopped, and one can meet the sunrise and the sunset, trace the way of the moon across the starlit sky and feel all fibres of his or her existence. It is as if a distinctly perceptible positive energy is emitted by the very stone of the hill, laid on top of the old monastery, and heightens the senses, clears the thoughts and one can feel new youth pulse in the veins. The impact of the locality on different health problems is exceptional - stress, headache, depressions. It is still debatable whether this is due to the seaside climate or the legend, but there are people who claim that a day and a night by the buried golden candlestick can purify you in a way that you can feel the entirety of your personality, and your senses heightened, your strives – realisable… but only if you go there with pure thoughts, without destroying and desecrating the fabulous place. Otherwise, you will be overtaken by the ominous doom of the treasure hunters, who looked for the treasure, whose stories are told by the local people with mystical fear...
At least they say so...
